Shockwave 03:11
You cannot believe what is happening Even though everywhere, it’s all around You simply shrug & invent good reasons As we slowly start to lose the seasons And as the 1st shock wave starts settling Maybe we‘ll wake up & start wondering Can we do it? Can we get through it? Can we do it? Can we make it through it? I cannot believe this is going on Even though it’s undeniably so And oh, what waste to throw up my hands Just waiting for the water to eat up the sands And as the last shock wave has left us reeling Maybe the numbness will convert to feeling Can we do it? Can we get through it? Can we do it? Can we make it through it? Maybe we’ll stop thinking of this as a curse or worse And find ways to make it all slow down or hopefully reverse Shockwave! We can do it We can get through it We can do it We can make it through it Shockwave!

Call us too young & call us too old & Make skinny jokes, point at our fat rolls Call us too smart & call us too slow & Poke fun at how much we don’t know But we will never be what it is that you see We’re as blank as can be … It’s our motto, you see! Blank blank blank blank Tell us we’re lazy, then start complaining About the way that we work too much Say we’re too shy & we’re way too quiet Then tell us we should just shut up But we will never be what it is that you see Our blank someday will be iron integrity! No, we will never be what it is that you see We’re as blank as can be … What’s our motto? You’ll see! Blank blank blank blank We have got a suit of static … We will wear our suit of static … We have got a suit of static … It repels, deflects all things rude We will wear our suit of static … It does a good job at doing us good We have got a suit of static … It shields us when we’re misconstrued We will wear our suit of static … It has a name : that’s fortitude

Id Urges 03:17
When the need to do something drastic comes over … I’ll do it Even if it has no sense of order I … just do it And if life tells me to make a fool of myself well, I’ll do it Cuz I know the thrill of how I’ll feel if I just go through it Id urges! And no one … can try to halt it … ahead it forges … Nothing can stop these id urges If it’s spontaneous and it’s spur of the moment, I’ll do it No time to think about dire consequences I … just do it And if later I’m upset, I’ll forget and again, I’ll do it Cuz I’ll never regret the feel of making myself go through it Id urges! And no one can halt it … ahead it forges … Nothing can stop these id urges so If the id in me … wants it Cuz the id in me … needs it Then the id in me … gets it Id urges!

Geekout 05:04
(Dirty desire … The flame grows higher Nerdy desire …Put out this fire) Transitions never seem to be taking place … No ideas, actions, nor movement of face How I obsess over you getting undressed Feels like a crush, but feels more like a mess (Oooooh) Geek out! I long for love … no complications But each time I scout, Uh oh! I geek out! The hints of friendship start to sparkle again But every time, something kills the innocence Cuz that damned curse comes back into fruition Before long, I’m moaning : “this just isn’t fun” (Oooooh) Geek out! I long for love … no complications But each time I scout, Uh oh! I geek out! Doctor, doctor, you got a preparation I can use? Or better yet, can I have this part of me surgically removed?! Oooooh … Geeking out again This ain’t right for me and I just cannot win I’ll ignore you now as you are without sin Just trying to protect myself, trying to stay cool but then Through the door, here you come struttin in … and Ooooooh I’m geeking out again!

about

Birmingham, Alabama’s “geekrock” outfit, Nowhere Squares really enjoy getting things off their chests. “Good Times Never Seemed So Bad” started as an album entitled “The Blank Album”. Although the title changed, the sentiment remains musically.

Whereas their prior release, “All Messed Up & Nowhere To Go” was more or less a reaction to the country’s startling political situation at the time, the songs of “Good Times Never Seemed So Bad” attempt to address the shock and ultimate blankness of living in and dealing with a world that may very well soon be ending.

Being first and foremost an energetic live band, Nowhere Squares opted for a more raw and upfront sound this go around, deciding for all listening and experiencing that even if the good times seem to be bad, it is most definitely better (and a lot more fun!) to just go out with a BANG.
